This web site — particularly the bibliography of the Great War — has been in the planning stages for at least three years. Although I am a librarian (retired, but once a librarian…) I also think of myself as a bibliographer; with the experience gained from several large projects, I thought that a listing of a few thousand citations of books on the Great War that are available in electronic format was not only useful, but a goal I could achieve.
Until I fell and broke my ankle last December. More like “shattered,” since it put me into a hospital bed for over 8 months while two different surgeons competed to see how much hardware they could fit into and attach onto a single human leg. So… things haven’t exactly been going to plan. I’m at least a year behind my original schedule, so now that I’m up and about (with my trusted cane) and able to get back into my home office, it looks like I have a lot of catching up to do.
There is an old saying: “If you want God to laugh, make a plan.”
